How to test your webcam
- Click “Start webcam test” and choose Allow when the browser asks for camera access.
- Check the live preview — you should see yourself, with the resolution and frame rate shown below.
- Wrong camera? Pick another from the dropdown (handy on laptops with front and external cameras).
- Save a snapshot if you want a still, then press Stop to release the camera.
Webcam not working? Run through this
- Browser permission: click the camera icon in the address bar and set it to Allow, then retry.
- Another app has it: Zoom, Teams, Discord or OBS can hold the camera exclusively — close them.
- Privacy shutter: many laptops and webcams have a physical slider or switch; make sure the lens isn't covered.
- Right device: switch cameras in the dropdown if you have more than one.
- Connection & drivers: reseat the USB plug; on Windows, check the camera isn't disabled in privacy settings.
What the readouts mean
The resolution is the size of the image your camera is delivering right now — 1280 × 720 (720p) and 1920 × 1080 (1080p) are common. The frame rate is how many frames per second it's producing; 30 fps is standard for video calls, and some cameras hit 60. If your resolution looks lower than the camera's spec, another app may have claimed the higher mode, or lighting is forcing the camera to drop quality.

No. It's shown live in your browser and never saved or sent anywhere. The camera is released on Stop.
Can I see resolution and frame rate?
Yes — both are displayed live while the preview runs.

Yes — tap Start and allow access; switch front/rear cameras with the dropdown.
